Penn State Behrend invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track position in Mathematics Education and Mathematics to begin August 2018. Applicants must have a M.Ed., MAT, or M.S. in Mathematics or Mathematics Education (or related field). The applicant should have experience teaching middle or high school mathematics (grades 7-12), with a preference given to applicants with experience mentoring pre-service or early career teachers. Responsibilities will be divided between the mathematics education and mathematics departments and include: facilitating and supervising secondary mathematics education field students; completing and filing certification paperwork with the Pennsylvania Department of Education; teaching introductory curriculum and instruction courses associated with field components; teaching introductory mathematics courses in the algebra and precalculus sequence; performing scholarly activity; and service to the school and college. After initial appointment, this position is renewable, contingent upon enrollment demands and job performance. Penn State Behrend is a four-year undergraduate and graduate college of Penn State with 4,700 students. The School of Science offers B.S. degrees in biology, chemistry, mathematics, mathematics education, nursing, physics, and environmental science. Erie Pennsylvania, a metropolitan area of 280,000 residents, is a major service, tourism, medical, and industrial center on Lake Erie’s Presque Isle Bay and is located two hours from Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo. The region offers many cultural, sports, and recreational resources, as well as modest living costs and affordable housing. There are five colleges in the Erie area.
