Description

The phlebotomist/lab assistant performs venipunctures, gives patient instructions for sample collections, and processes specimens. This position will perform basic laboratory testing for waived tests, prepare samples for testing to include centrifugation, adhere to procedures, polices and health and safety guidelines. This position will answer the telephone, perform daily tasks within the LIS for patient reporting, assist clinicians with sample collection devices, process and package reference laboratory samples and perform data entry for the reference labs. This position will require one year of phlebotomy experience and requires a high school diploma. Certification in phlebotomy is preferred. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
