As a member of Penn State’s Smeal College of Business Development and Alumni Relations team, the successful candidate will play an integral role in one of the most respected and successful fundraising operations in the country and will contribute to the strategic goals of the college and the Division of Development and Alumni Relations. This position will be directly responsible for planning and executing more than 25 annual alumni events ranging from small lunches for VIP visitors to more complex, large-scale receptions and dinners. This includes coordinating venues and caterers, creating event invitations and lists, establishing event budgets, developing briefing materials, managing on-site event logistics, measuring the effectiveness of events, and recommending improvements for new strategies. This position will also assist the Director of Alumni Relations with the strategic development and implementation of other alumni engagement initiatives, such as frequently working with volunteers in regional Smeal Business Clubs, helping to manage the Alumni Mentoring Program, working with the Smeal Alumni Society Board and Task Force committees, and tracking engagement metrics. The candidate must be highly organized, adhere to precise deadlines with attention to detail, have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and write and communicate effectively. Experience in the field of Alumni Relations and familiarity with best-practices in the industry is preferred. Knowledge of online systems such as email marketing, social media, alumni databases, and event planning tools are essential. The position involves some evening and weekend work, as well as routine travel. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
