This position is responsible to the Assistant Director of Information Systems in the Network Infrastructure group within Development and Alumni Relations, Information Systems. This individual should have an in-depth understanding of Microsoft Operating systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, and correcting network troubles and performance issues; ensuring proper operation of new network services at multiple buildings. Maintain current and correct documentation. Ensure proper operation, configure and maintain network hardware and associated software. Interface with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems. Interface with University organizations to resolve service related issues. Develop and implement plans, schedules and requirements for the deployment of systems. Provide specialized guidance to other staff. Network hardware responsibilities include, but are not limited to, firewalls, switches, and servers. The position should have a good understanding of PCI compliance. The position will have involvement with various software components for network monitoring including ensuring proper use of, administration, customization and performance. The position will be involved in maintaining networks for various Alumni/Development applications including Exchange, SQL, Lotus Notes, Oracle, Business Objects and DocFinity Imaging. Support for these environments will require an understanding and involvement with the following: project management, system documentation, change management, capacity planning, network performance, network tuning, disaster recovery, network security and administration. The position will be responsible for the troubleshooting, and maintenance of network firewalls, switches, network equipment and VPN tunnels. Daily activities include, but are not limited to, working with internal customers on service requests, registering DNS changes, maintaining firewall rules, configuring switches for necessary new equipment, and maintaining network security and PCI compliance monitoring. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Industry standard network certifications preferred. Must be detail oriented, well organized, self-starter with the ability to work with diverse teams in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Requires the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Must have strong communication and customer relation skills. Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation. This job requires on-call work and work outside business hours.
