Description

The Purchasing Department in The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking an Expeditor to assure materials are received on-time and monitor vendor performance. Responsibilities include: Create and issue Request For Quotations (RFQs) to vendors and coordinate responses received; create open order reports; enter, update, and search for information via various computer systems; identify and resolve order and invoice discrepancies; expedite open purchase orders with vendors to assure on-time or early deliveries; assure order certifications are received and tracked; file/retrieve orders/records while maintaining accuracy and detail; ensure receipt of proper invoices for orders; evaluate products, pricing, and alternative product vendors; identify potential responsible and/or diverse vendors; arrange meetings with potential new vendors, current vendors, and technical staff for open order issues; track vendor performance/create vendor performance reports; prepare and update other various reports on a regular basis; transfer, tag, and track inventory items; collaborate with Purchasing Office and technical office staff; serve as a liaison with University Departments, outside vendors, and freight companies; assist property inventory personnel as assigned; and other general office duties as assigned. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Logistics, or Property Management is desired. Experience in the Oracle financial system and Government purchasing knowledge is preferred. An active federal clearance is highly desired. A background in expediting orders, RFQ initiation, handling of order discrepancies, creating and updating reports, proper handling of various Distribution Statement drawings, and identification of responsible vendors is required. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is necessary. You must hold excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. A demonstrated ability to solve problems while maintaining attention to quality, detail, and accuracy is necessary to be successful in this position. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. This is a one-year, fixed-term renewable appointment.
