Penn State Extension York County seeks to hire a part-time 4-H Urban Program Assistant. This individual will function as a team member of the Penn State Extension 4-H Team, working with the 4-H educators and other staff in the Penn State Extension Office in York County. The individual represents Penn State University and the College of Agricultural Sciences to assist in interpreting, applying, and disseminating the latest research findings in 4-H youth development. Major responsibilities will include planning, implementing, conducting and evaluating 4-H Youth Development educational programs in the urban after school, summer, and out of school time program areas. In carrying out the assigned duties, the individual will work directly with county staff, volunteers, youth related agencies, and others to be identified. This position is administratively responsible to the York County 4-H Coordinator, Area 8 Business Operations Manager and the 4-H State Program Leader for statewide programming. On the local level, this individual is responsible for helping with office citizenship responsibilities directed by the Area 8 Business Operations Manager. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in education or related field. An interest in working with people from diverse backgrounds is required. Candidate must possess and demonstrate positive human relations, strong organizational skills and effective communications skills necessary to work effectively with youth, volunteers, and collaborating agency personnel. Other skills include effective oral and written communication skills, and strong information technology skills. Candidate must access to a vehicle to travel to sites. As the position requires operating a motor vehicle as part of the job duties, a valid driver`s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check is required in addition to standard background checks.
