Description

The Penn State Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DDAR), Information Systems, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Programmer Analyst. This position will be reporting to the Advance Project Manager in the Information Systems unit. The qualified candidates will have 5 primary responsibilities: Programming, Project Management, Business Process Analysis, Communication and Interpersonal skills. As part of Programming, the candidate will demonstrate advanced knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures that specialize in design, development, installation, implementation, modification, and support of new or existing applications software. The Programmer analyst will have proven expertise and/or ability to learn and operate computer software programs and working knowledge of; programming languages (TSQL, PLSQL, .Net, and Java); relational database systems (Oracle and SQL); report writers (SQL reporting services); Web Services. Working knowledge of the Advancement CRM system is a plus. As part of Project Management, the candidate will demonstrate a history of managing projects, having demonstrated knowledge of project management methods. As part of Business Process Analysis, the Programmer/Analyst will analyze business requirements; understand data and reporting needs; and develop reports and analyses using multiple data sources. Candidates must be organized, thorough and accurate with data, interpersonal, possess strong problem solving, verbal/written communication skills, and the ability to Excel in team environments, as well as demonstrate a genuine appreciation in working with diverse audiences. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
