Description

The Department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology, and Education, College of Agricultural Sciences, seeks applicants for an academic adviser position. This position will provide academic advising to assigned majors, minors, and pre-majors in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology, and Education; assess student needs and make professional referrals when necessary; assist with Department efforts to enhance alumni outreach and engage alumni with the Department’s programs and students; assist with graduation checks; assist with advising center reports and updating publications; provide support for Department student recruiting efforts, including visits to Commonwealth campuses and meetings with prospective students; assist with New Student Orientation and Transfer Student Orientation; engage in outreach to the academic advising communities in the College and University; and support the Department’s undergraduate program coordinators and act as a liaison to other Department faculty and staff. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
