The Office of External Awards and Reconciliation is seeking an individual responsible to the Accounting Manager for the administration of the day-to-day operations of the Federal Direct Loan program ensuring compliance with Federal regulations. Maintain the private/alternative loan program. Monitor the Direct Loan activity to calculate amount of funds to be drawn down from the Department of Education System. Process incoming ACH/Wires. Analyze and resolve any discrepancies in student accounts concerning charges, balances, holds, financial aid, fees and adjustments then develop the appropriate responses to students, parents, University staff, the U.S. Department of Education, ELM Resources and lenders. Responsible for daily reconciliation of both loan programs with the general ledger, student accounts, and the bank account. Assist in managing third party contracts. Responsible for training Bursar staff on changes or updates in the student loan programs. Serve as a liaison between the office of Student Aid and the Bursar office regarding these loan programs. Calculate and process bi-weekly payroll for wage staff and work-study students. The position also requires compliance to Federal Regulations, such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). Knowledge of elementary accounting and bookkeeping procedures preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy, the ability to multi-task are essential. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Accounting and Student systems are highly desirable.
