Description

The Electrical Engineering Support Department in the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking a Materials Specialist to provide support in the oversight of parts inventory management. Responsibilities include: providing assistance with preparation and submission of Request for Quotes to purchasing, reviewing requisitions and purchasing card reconciliations forms for completeness, tracking the progress of requisitions with the Open Order Report, communicating delivery delays and other material issues, prioritizing builds, working with suppliers on part shortages and issues, ensuring all procurements are to the current design revisions, communicating any changes to purchasing, creating and maintaining a status of incoming parts and assemblies and highlighting any that are off schedule, reviewing vehicle build schedules, and establishing part inventory re-order levels, provide assistance processing sub-assembly kits, maintaining inventory logs, assisting with the acceptance of materials and components into inventory. This job will be filled as a level 1, level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Preferred experience includes: familiarity with Printed Wire Board (PWB) and Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) manufacturing methods and working with suppliers to expedite work and resolve issues. Required experience includes: developing and managing material work flow and being knowledgeable with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint). Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are critical. This is a one-year, fixed-term renewable appointment.
