The Smeal College of Business is seeking candidates for the job of Assistant Director of Employer Relations and Recruiting. This position will assist both MBA Employer Relations and MBA Admissions in the execution of candidate recruiting and employer relationship strategies geared toward achieving the overall goals of the Smeal College’s MBA and professional graduate programs. More specifically for Employer Relations, this individual will help build and maintain recruiting relationships with local, national, and international corporations (and occasionally with government and non-profit organizations) in order to grow the overall recruiting portfolio and meet the needs of Smeal graduate business students. For Admissions, the individual will assist in developing and implementing programs and strategies designed to recruit domestic and international students. The position will have a direct line reporting relationship to the director of MBA Employer Relations, along with a dotted line reporting relationship with the director of MBA Admissions. The individual filling this role will focus more on admissions recruiting activities in the late summer/fall, shifting to corporate relationship development in the spring/early summer. This position will also support any additional functions related to recruitment, admissions, and employer relations. It is anticipated that about 30% of the Assistant Director’s time will be spent traveling in the U.S., and occasionally internationally, for the purpose of selling the Smeal College’s graduate education offerings to prospective students and student talent alternatives to targeted employers. The Assistant Director will conduct both individual and group relationship building activities, plus will regularly represent the Smeal College at professional events. The Assistant Director is expected to exhibit a high level of self-initiative in contacting alumni, employers, prospective students, and university colleagues. This effort is essential to the success of Smeal’s graduate business programs by helping to maintain high levels of enrollment, employment, and MBA program rankings. Where applicable, this position may also assist with the cross-selling of other Smeal programs. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a demonstrated ability to develop strong academic and corporate relationships at all levels of an organization; strong oral and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines; ability to work with diverse audiences; and the ability to work independently and remotely during travel. Given the external facing nature of the role, candidates will be evaluated on their poise and polish, as well the ability to maintain the highest standards of honesty and ethics. Experience with CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and student recruitment software, in particular Salesforce and Symplicity, is desired. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
