The Department of Kinesiology at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking an entry-level faculty member with expertise in the area of applied exercise and health. This tenure-track position, which will begin Fall Semester 2018, provides an opportunity to join a progressive, multidisciplinary faculty with a scholarly focus on human movement and physical activity. Scholarship in areas central to the Department’s mission is welcome. Thematic areas of current interest within applied exercise and health include, but are not limited to, activity across the lifespan, women’s health, and the application of multimodal wearable technologies to improve health. The Department of Kinesiology ( is a comprehensive academic unit spanning multiple domains of kinesiology and offering B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. The Department is located within the College of Health and Human Development (; an educational environment enriched by its considerable breadth, diversity of faculty expertise, and educational opportunities for students. Both the College and the Department encourage multidisciplinary collaboration. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in an appropriate area, an established record of scholarship, and a commitment to excellence in teaching and service. Post-doctoral experience and an established research program are preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to secure extramural research funding and to assume teaching responsibilities in the Department’s newly-created, practice-oriented, undergraduate degree option in Applied Exercise and Health ( The candidate’s application should demonstrate commitment to professional certification options available to graduates in Kinesiology.
