Description

The Pennsylvania State University’s Social Science Research Institute is seeking a Project Manager for a new Integrative Data System (IDS) for Pennsylvania administrative data. This effort will build on the University’s current administrative data portfolio, housed in the Administrative Data Accelerator to initiate new collaborative state research projects. The Project Manager will work closely with a consortium of PSU research centers and faculty to engage with government partners. This new position will include responsibility for project management (e.g., developing new IRB proposals, data use agreements, security reviews, and project reports) as well as day-to-day operations including procedural, managerial and protocol responsibilities. The successful candidate will be able to support academic projects such as development of papers, abstracts, and grants and may assume leadership roles in personnel decisions, training, and formulating strategic directions for the IDS Consortium. Background Information: The SSRI is one of five university-wide research institutes housed within the Office of the Vice President for Research at Penn State. Consortium collaborators include faculty from the ADA, Center for Health Care Policy Research, Center for Educational Disparities Research , Justice Research Center, Child Maltreatment Solutions Network, Population Research Institute, and Edna Bennett Pierce Prevention Research Center. This job will be filled as a level 2, level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Master's in Project Management, Public Policy/Administration, Science Communication/Translation, and/or project management experience in interdisciplinary social, behavioral or health sciences, including relevant work experience with interdisciplinary research are desired. Strong professional references are essential. Excellent organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and to work independently are critical. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism. Candidates with experience in interdisciplinary project management will be particularly competitive. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
