Division of Development and Alumni Relations

As an Intern in Penn State’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DDAR), you can play an integral role in one of the most respected and successful fundraising operations in the country. The success of the division depends not only on our strong institutional culture of philanthropy, but also upon the more than 400 development and alumni relations staff members whose professionalism and expertise set the standard in the field. As an Intern in this program, you will have the opportunity to work with and learn from these staff members—participating in meaningful projects, interacting with donors and senior leadership, and developing personal and professional skills along the way. The DDAR internship is a full-time, 40-hour-a-week paid position that exposes accepted candidates to a career in philanthropy as well as to Penn State’s approach to higher education fundraising. Prior experience with philanthropy is not required, but candidates should possess exceptional interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn and contribute to Penn State’s development efforts. Applications will be accepted until January 2, 2018. First round interviews will be held beginning January 22, 2018. All applicants will be notified of final decisions by March 15, 2018, if not sooner. The eleven-week program will begin on May 14, 2018 and conclude on July 27, 2018. Please complete the online application as well as upload a cover letter and resume. Preference will be given to Penn State juniors, seniors and graduate students. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Your cover letter should address your interest in philanthropy, commitment to service, and how the internship would be beneficial to your career aspirations.
