The College of Agricultural Sciences, Penn State Extension Northampton County is seeking to hire a part-time 4-H Program Assistant. Duties to include: Work with the Northampton County 4-H team to plan, deliver and evaluate local 4-H programs. Preparing and executing local educational programs (i.e. camps and seminars). Assist in the procurement of financial and material donations for use at programs. Perform survey data entry as needed. Serve as a member of the 4-H staff team providing support to the general 4-H program as requested. Assist the 4-H Extension Educator in reaching new audiences in accordance with The Pennsylvania State University Affirmative Action Policy. Prepare and send monthly correspondence to animal science volunteers and members. Assist in the planning, delivery and evaluation of programs for youth focused on animal science/science topics. Coordinate local programs with state specialists and program associates. Assist in the planning and implementation of 4-H educational programs and contests, including, but not limited to leader update training, quality animal management training, summer camp programs, 4-H round-ups, and banquets. Facilitate and assist with county livestock, equine, and Show & Sale Committees. Managing year-end livestock and equine programs and shows at the county, regional, and potential state level. Desired qualifications/experience include: Possess knowledge of educational principles and presentation preparation skills. Familiarity with the 4-H Program is preferred. Completed or enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in youth development, education, animal science, volunteer development or other related field. Possess organizational and record keeping skills. Possess communication skills needed for group presentations and individual communication with members, parents, leaders, teachers and agency staff. Possess computer skills for creating documents and marketing pieces. As the position requires operating a motor vehicle as part of the job duties, a valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check is required in addition to standard background checks.
