Description

The Office of Physical Plant, Department of Engineering Services is seeking an Electrical Engineer experienced in the design, specification, maintenance and operation of building power, lighting, security, communications and fire detection systems for buildings. The successful candidate will have experience with some or all of the following: performance of technical analysis, calculations and evaluation of results to solve complex electrical engineering problems; reviewing and/or providing input on designs, specifications and estimates for electrical engineering aspects of building, industrial or commercial power systems; preparation of special studies, written reports and project scoping documents; development of design and construction standards; coordination with design professionals, user representatives, project managers, and technical staff on requirements for new construction, renovation, repairs and corrective measures; collaboration with trades supervisors and crews to evaluate field conditions and assist in the resolution of operational problems and deficiencies in electrical building power systems; understanding of NFPA 70 and 70E and other applicable codes and/or regulations pertaining to electrical power systems; completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred. This job will be filled as a level 2, level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related discipline or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
