Penn State Greater Allegheny invites applicants for a Facilities Supervisor 4 (Manager of Physical Plant) position. This role is responsible for the operation of the campus Facilities and Physical Plant including all building maintenance, janitorial, landscaping and grounds, safety and compliance, emergency preparedness and facility systems. This position supervises unionized and non-unionized employees supporting these functions. The Facilities Supervisor serves as the Campus Project Manager for all major and minor campus construction projects including: major maintenance, capital renewal, campus beautification and new building construction. Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and municipal codes and regulations in order to maintain code compliance. The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that proper training is provided to all Technical Service unionized staff members. The Facilities Supervisor serves on all campus committees that require maintenance and/or janitorial support. This position typically demonstrates proficient ability in work design, project management, financial planning and development of goals for accomplishing difficult unit assignments; demonstrates awareness of emerging trends, policies and procedures. Review completed work of others, delegate more advanced tasks; facilitate optimal group dynamics and evaluate employee performance. Develop and implement practices that promote a culture of diversity, safety, and environmental consciousness and that is conducive to effective relationships among diverse groups of employees; use diplomacy and advanced communication skills in unstructured settings; modify, adapt, or refine guidelines, if necessary, to resolve issues or problems; develop, evaluate, enhance, and/or implement quality improvement practices, processes, procedures, or policies that have an impact on unit operations. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of and/or experience in the following is beneficial: Commonwealth of PA Public Applicator Permit, related trade certification, PA Public Pesticide Application Certification, PA Commercial Driver’s License, IIRC Certification. The Facilities Supervisor must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as working knowledge of all building systems including Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Wiring, Telecommunications, and Access Control.
