Description

Cut, trim, fertilize, aerify, roll, seed, water, lawns, athletic areas, etc.; plant, transplant, prune, spray, cultivate flowers, trees, shrubs, etc. Remove brush, leaves, rubbish, etc., from walks, roadways, parking areas, lawns, and other University property. Establish sub-grades and finish grades for lawns, athletic areas, etc. Perform routine maintenance and preventative maintenance on trucks, tractors, power mowers and other motorized equipment; adjust, clean, oil, grease and inspect equipment for mechanical problems; make minor adjustments, replace spark plugs, oil filters; adjust, replace belts; check battery and water levels; check tires for proper pressure, etc. Operate trucks, tractors, power grounds and snow removal equipment to maintain grounds and remove snow and ice from roads, parking areas, walks, etc.; spread anti-skid material where necessary; drive University vehicles as required in the performance of assigned duties. Utilize hand and power tools to perform general maintenance duties; install shelving, blackboards, bulletin boards; mount fire extinguishers; replace damaged floor and ceiling tile and patch floor; replace and glaze windows; perform routine plumbing repairs. Prepare and paint both interior and exterior surfaces using hand brush and rollers. Perform routine electrical repairs such as replacing wall switches and receptacles, and fluorescent light ballasts; relamp inside and outside lighting fixtures. Inspect, repair, recharge fire extinguishers; assist in testing and maintenance of fire alarm and emergency lighting system. Mix concrete for patchwork and minor masonry repairs to curbs, walks, catch basins, etc.; pour and finish same; lay asphalt material for patching on roadways, walks, parking areas, etc. Check Campus heating equipment for proper operation; advise supervisor of condition of unit. Perform routine preventative maintenance duties following predetermined schedules and procedures; replace filters; lubricate and oil; adjust or replace drive belts; replace worn or defective parts; read gauges and record; advise supervisor of conditions of equipment and needed repairs. Receive incoming shipments and check against invoices for accuracy and condition; move and place in designated areas; assemble and install items as required; direct lower grade employees in unloading, storing, assembling material and equipment as required. Assist higher grade employees with Maintenance and repairs as assigned. Move, assemble, and/or set-up furniture, equipment, tables, platforms, etc. Lock and unlock buildings at scheduled times. Job Requirements: Requires the use of commercial English, grammar and arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments, graduates and the like requiring interpretation in their various applications; or the posting, preparation, interpretation, use and checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data. Over 6 up to and including 12 months of effective experience. Shift: 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. Days Off: Saturday, Sunday NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE AS A PART OF YOUR JOB DUTIES. A VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE RECORDS CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO STANDARD BACKGROUND CHECKS.
