Description
Capital Area Early Childhood Training Institute (CAECTI), Penn State Harrisburg invites applications for a fixed-term appointment as an Early Childhood Mental Health and Technical Assistance Consultant. Provide child-specific mental health consultation services in early care and education programs for children ages 1-5 years, identify specific social-emotional teaching strategies for referred child, utilize universal screening tools, and manage a case load of 8-10 children. In addition, provide on-site consultation services in early care and education programs participating in Keystone STARS Quality Improvement Program; utilize a strengths-based coaching approach with a strong working knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in the ECE field in serving as a resource in the areas of: child development, child, program and staff assessment, curriculum and working with families. Travel within the 16-county Mid-State region, maintain an Excel spreadsheets and complete data entry for monthly reports. Review of applications will begin on September 15, 2017 and continue until a successful candidate is selected. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in Social Work or related discipline or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Psychology, or Social Work, with a focus on child development and developmentally appropriate practices, is preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate competence working with young children in the use of social-emotional development research, screening and assessment tools, mental health promotion strategies, family systems theory, community resources, effective communication skills, and the use of documentation technologies. This is a fixed-term appointment funded through June 30, 2018 with possibility of re-funding.
