Research and Development Engineer (Software Engineer)
The Autonomous and Intelligent Systems (AIS) Division of the Communications, Information and Navigation Office is looking for a highly motivated, self-starting Software Engineer who desires to work in a growing area encompassing a variety of research and technology disciplines. AIS supports a number of research areas and programs in autonomous vehicles, acoustics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, signal/image processing, high performance/embedded computing, cybersecurity, UI/UX and Test and Evaluation that provide a unique opportunity for the applicant. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline (Professional Engineer license accepted in lieu of Bachelor's degree), or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, signal/image processing, high-performance computing, systems engineering, cybersecurity and Test and Evaluation are highly desired. Experience with programming languages and development environments is required. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. This is a one-year, fixed-term renewable appointment.
