Description

Outreach Analytics and Reporting (OAR) has an exciting job opportunity for a bright, self-motivated individual who is interested in working in a collaborative, productive, and diverse team environment as a Data Analytics and Assessment Consultant. The successful candidate will assist with the management of the OAR evaluation system, including creation, distribution and analysis of surveys for both the department and Penn State Outreach and Online Education (OO&E) staff. S/he will retrieve and analyze data from multiple sources to track progress of key organizational performance indicators, prepare standard and ad hoc reports, compare consistency of data against other data sources, apply stringent QA processes to ensure accuracy, and establish automated procedures for analysis and reporting. S/he will provide leadership and present on complex data analyses and projects, requiring in-depth knowledge of OO&E business processes and the ability to effectively communicate methodology and results to assist key stakeholders in making decisions. The successful candidate will also worked collaboratively with other units within OO&E to provide assistance with data driven decision making related to increasing student success, as well as implementing a student outcome assessment model. Requirements include previous experience managing a survey evaluation system, a high level of proficiency in query writing using SQL or Microsoft Access, and in using Excel for manipulating and displaying data, including the use of pivot tables and charts. Academic background in research methods, psychometrics, or closely related discipline, with demonstrated experience in survey design techniques and software programs commonly used in qualitative research is highly desired. Experience collaborating with student facing units to assess student outcomes and advanced data visualization tools is preferred but not required. Competencies critical to success in this job are: effective organization and project management skills to meet multiple deadlines and attain results; proven attention to detail and problem-solving skills; excellent verbal and written communications skills; and strong interpersonal skills. We seek candidates who are able to demonstrate experience and ability to advance Outreach’s diversity initiative. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
