Information Technology Manager (IT Manager, TLT Learning Design)
Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) is seeking an innovative and creative individual to lead our Learning Design team. This is a unique opportunity to lead the transformation of this team in new thematic areas. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to create and implement a new vision for how learning design can support both TLT strategic goals, as well as the University’s strategic goal of transforming education. TLT’s learning design team initiates and facilitates organizational change around teaching and learning through the creation of new programs. These programs are designed to catalyze new mindsets associated with teaching and learning, such as creativity, collaboration, design thinking, and computational thinking. We are also interested in programs that help instructors build capacity in pedagogical agility; that is, the ability to quickly learn new technologies and pedagogies, and how to best apply these new skills in various learning modalities. As a member of the leadership team, the successful candidate will collaborate with TLT leadership to develop a vision for the future of faculty professional development, learning design, and scholarship. As TLT’s research portfolio continues to grow, the learning design team will be pivotal in operationalizing new research programs and faculty engagement efforts. The candidate will also work closely with other units from across the university to identify emerging technologies, and the value of those technologies on teaching and learning. The learning design team is a diverse and talented group, with expertise in faculty development, course design, open educational resources, learning technologies, and best practices associated with specific technology tools and platforms. The learning design team is distributed, with a physical presence across Penn State Commonwealth Campuses. The desired candidate will have a background in teaching, learning design, faculty development, or the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), as well as past experience in a management or supervisory role. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
