The Department of Psychology at Penn State (http://psych.la.psu.edu/) is recruiting for a colleague in our cognitive psychology program (http://psych.la.psu.edu/graduate/program-areas/cognitive) for a tenure track position starting August 2018. Rank is open, but we are likely to hire at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology or a related field, have a strong record of publications in top outlets, have a history of or clear potential for external funding, and have demonstrated or show clear potential for excellence in teaching. We especially welcome candidates who can contribute to one or more of the cross-cutting emphases within our department: Neuroscience/Biological Bases of Behavior, Culture and Context, Applied/Translational Research, and Quantitative Methods. Areas of specialization within cognitive psychology are open and may include (but are not limited to) such topics as cognitive control, language science, memory, attention, perception, and decision making. Rich opportunities exist for collaboration within the department and across campus, and a record of collaboration is desirable. Current faculty in the cognitive area are active in units including the Center for Language Sciences (http://cls.psu.edu/), the Social Life and Engineering Sciences Imaging Center (http://imaging.psu.edu/), the Center for Healthy Aging (http://healthyaging.psu.edu/), the Center for Brain, Behavior, and Cognition (http://cbbc.psu.edu/) and the Applied Research Lab (https://www.arl.psu.edu/). Review of applications will begin October 15, 2017 and will continue until the position is filled. Candidates should submit a letter of application including concise statements of research and teaching interests, a CV, and selected (p)reprints. Please arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent electronically to PsychApplications@psu.edu with the subject line of Cognitive Psych. Questions regarding the application process can be emailed to Kelly Confer, kym3@psu.edu, and questions regarding the position can be sent to Nancy Dennis, nad12@psu.edu.
