The Schools of Science and Humanities and Social Science at Penn State Behrend are seeking a part-time Administrative Support Assistant to provide administrative support to faculty and students in the Secondary Mathematics Education and Early Childhood and Elementary Education programs. Primary duties include accessing, printing, and storing clearances, contacting students to alert them of lapsed or expired clearances, creating and maintaining a database of education majors, writing and maintaining affiliation agreements with local school districts, and facilitating certification paperwork. Other typical work activities include, but are not limited to, coordinating faculty efforts within and across Behrend’s education programs and communicating with Penn State University’s Curriculum and Instruction Field Experiences (CIFE) Office. Requires a high school diploma or higher plus an education background, teaching experience, or a background in education. The ability to maintain confidentiality, handle multiple projects simultaneously with interruptions, prioritize tasks, and provide excellent customer service is essential. The successful candidate must be capable of self-management and must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent judgment and problem solving skills, and the ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds and in a team environment. Typical working hours are 20 hours/week, Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., but hours may change as operational needs dictate.
