Penn State Altoona, Division of Education, Human Development, and Social Sciences, invites applications for the tenure-track faculty position of Assistant Professor of Kinesiology—Biomechanics/Motor Learning and Control to begin August 2018. The ideal candidate will have expertise in biomechanics and/or motor learning and control, but related kinesiology specializations will be considered. Candidates should be able to teach courses in the area of biomechanics and motor learning and could include courses such as anatomy, neurobiology, research methods, as well as other courses that fit within the needs of the kinesiology degree program and the candidate’s expertise. The position requires a Ph.D. in kinesiology, exercise science, health and human performance or related field with a preference for those candidates with teaching experience( The position requires the teaching of three courses per semester, conducting original research published in peer-reviewed journals, and providing related service. Each candidate should demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate teaching, an ability to collaborate with undergraduate research and engaged scholarship, and an ability to develop upper level courses. Each candidate should demonstrate the potential for scholarly research and the ability to obtain extramural funding for their research. Finally, each candidate is expected to provide service to the College, the community, and the profession. Successful candidates will be team players who are willing to work with a faculty dedicated to ensuring the highest quality education for Altoona students while also encouraging individual growth, cultural awareness, ethical decision-making, and civic responsibility.
