Finance and Business (F&B) Information Technology (IT) is seeking candidates for an Assistant Director for Security and Compliance. This position will lead the Security and Compliance Team and report to the Senior Director for IT of Finance and Business. Responsibilities include oversight of F&B’s information security activities to ensure alignment with Penn State policy and standards as well as applicable regulations and standards including PCI-DSS, HIPAA, GLBA, and CJIS. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background with system and network security principles, technologies, regulations, and strategies in a complex and evolving IT security environment. This position will require strong leadership skills to lead a team of two system and network security analysts, serve as the specialized lead on F&B security projects, provide leadership within the emerging Penn State IT community of practice, and represent F&B IT on enterprise security initiatives. This position is expected to work closely with business and IT staff in the F&B business units to help them: identify sensitive data and its associated risks; identify system, network, and business process gaps that put the data at risk; and develop plans to improve the security and compliance of the data, technology, and business processes. This position will foster awareness, understanding, and attention to information security within F&B. In addition, they will collaborate across the F&B IT team, with F&B business units, and with the Office of Information Security (OIS) to develop a shared vision and strategy to deliver security and compliance to F&B, leveraging shared enterprise services whenever possible. The successful candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills along with interpersonal skills. Security certification is desired but can be obtained after hiring. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
