Description

The System Design Specialist will be a functional administrator of approximately a dozen third-party commercial applications in Finance and Business (F&B). The position will report to the Sr. Director for IT of F&B. This position will require a range of IT and soft skills to work with a variety of stakeholders, users, and applications. This position requires technical skills to manage the lifecycle of commercial applications including installation, configuration, integration, testing, administration, monitoring, and maintenance of the software. Particular attention will be paid to rigorous application of information security principles, policies, and practices. Basic database administration may be required to support some applications, Microsoft SQL is preferred. This position also requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to act as liaison between system sponsors, users, technical staff, and vendors to ensure proper operation and support of the application. Strong troubleshooting skills are a must. The functional administrator may also provide support during the application procurement process to identify technical requirements and evaluate vendor proposals. Previous system administration experience is highly desired, including authentication technologies such as Microsoft Active Directory and web server technologies such as IIS or Apache. The candidate must have the ability to quickly learn new software applications and technologies without extensive formal training. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
