The Department of Campus Recreation is seeking to fill Activity Specialists for the Adventure Recreation program. Activity Specialists will provide specialized instruction directly related to managing the risks associated with adventure activities. Primary responsibilities include training Trip Leaders, teaching clinics and workshops, and leading outdoor adventure trips and activities. Activity Specialists should possess 2 or more years of outdoor leadership experience and be able to show (in the form of an experience log) and/or demonstrate competency with skills and knowledge in one or more of the following activities: backpacking, caving, rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, mountain biking, fly fishing, canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, whitewater rafting, or wilderness medicine. Possession of a nationally recognized certification preferred (American Mountain Guide Association, American Canoe Association, Wilderness Education Association, Wilderness Medical Institute, etc.). Should be certified in Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR or higher. Campus Recreation is a department within Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellness, and recreational programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the new expanded and renovated 200,000 sf Intramural Building, the McCoy Natatorium, the 700-acre Stone Valley Outdoor Recreation Area, a Tennis Center including six clay courts and four indoor courts, the White Building, Adventure Recreation, Aquatics, Club Sports, Fitness and Wellness Programs, and Intramural Sports.
