Description

A postdoctoral research position is available in the Department of Psychology at Penn State University in the lab of Dr. Suzy Scherf (http://sites.psu.edu/scherflab/ldn-director/). This position is supported by an NIMH-funded grant investigating the influence of pubertal development on social information processing and functional brain development. We employ functional (fMRI) and structural (sMRI) magnetic resonance, together with detailed behavioral paradigms in typically developing children, adolescents, and emerging adults. We use univariate, pattern analytic, and effective connectivity strategies in addressing questions about functional changes in the organization of neural network organization. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in developmental or cognitive neuroscience, or related field, previous experience with fMRI research, strong programming (e.g., Matlab) and quantitative skills, and a promising publication record. Experience with child and adolescent participants is a plus, but not required. This is an excellent position for qualified candidates to gain expertise in developmental neuroscience and work in a supportive lab environment that prioritizes professional development, including publications and grant-writing experience (see http://sites.psu.edu/scherflab/publications/). The position is open immediately but start dates as late as Fall 2017 will also be considered. This is a one-year position renewable up to 5 years, contingent on funding. A minimum two-year commitment is preferred. Interested applicants should upload a CV, statement of research experiences and goals, and contact details for three references. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
