Description

SSS Mentors will be responsible for helping approximately 10 first year students to adjust to college life. Mentors will attend a training workshop to review strategies that have proven useful in working with new students. They will also need to complete the necessary paperwork to monitor the progress of first year students and the paperwork required for the payment of services. Peer Mentors will initiate interaction with their assigned students on a regular basis during the fall semester of the academic year, beginning in the fall of 2017. Mentors will regularly attend workshops and encourage the new students to do the same. Periodic meetings will be held during the fall with the Academic Counselor in SSS. Sophomore, junior, or senior SSS students at Penn State Wilkes-Barre are eligible to apply. Part-time position beginning Fall semester; 6 hours per week for 14 weeks, with possibility of renewal.
