Penn State Outreach and Online Education is seeking a Market Research Specialist with a demonstrated ability to design and conduct market research studies using appropriate methodologies including quantitative, qualitative, primary, and secondary market research techniques. Applicants should have a strong analytical background, be able to synthesize large volumes of data and information, analyze trends, identify opportunities, draw sound conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations to guide marketing strategy, product development, and organizational decision-making. The job requires the ability to work with clients to understand their research needs and translate those needs into market research that facilitates decision-making and strategy development. The successful candidate must be able to collect, organize, and analyze data to develop insights and formulate recommendations. Experience communicating market research through visual representations of data, reports, and presentations is strongly preferred. Experience performing secondary market research is a plus. The position requires the ability to effectively manage projects, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A high level of proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel is required. Proficiency in MS Access and SPSS or other statistical software packages is strongly preferred. An understanding of higher education markets is a plus. Due to the responsibilities and expectations of this position, education verification will be required in addition to a standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
