We are seeking a qualified, motivated, and accountable Lab Technician to perform a variety of biochemistry, molecular biological experiments and animal procedures. The research project focuses on testing new drug combinations in pediatric leukemia and neuroblastoma cells and animal models. Duties include: tissue culture, cytotoxicity assays, screening of small molecule libraries using an inhibition assay, transfection, q PCR, q ChlP, flow cytometry, etc. Experience in animal (mice) handling and procedures like tail vein injection, oral gavage, and necropsy -organ harvest are required. Experience in mice breeding techniques is a plus but not required. Job involves execution of experiments and data analysis, record keeping, ordering lab supplies, preparing IACUC protocols, etc. Good laboratory practice with regard to conducting experiments, record keeping and organizing data required. Candidate will be expected to work on the above independently and/or with senior investigators. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and looking to learn new techniques and use of newer equipment and keep up with changing technology and applications. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's degree preferred) or higher plus seven years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Recommendations from past Pl or publication record are preferred. Applicants should have Bachelor's degree or higher in biological or a related field. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
