The Earth and Mineral Sciences Library seeks an individual, preferably from the College of EMS, for a paid internship (up to 20 hours/week) for the 2017/18 academic year to perform research and writing related to the history of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, its faculty, alumni and achievements. Under the direction of the EMS librarians, you will search the Penn State archives for historical information and images related to the College of EMS, its faculty, students and alumni. Scanning images and writing of biographical essays will be some of the assigned duties. Other opportunities for research can be explored, including projects related to disciplinary repositories, oral history, and museum exhibits. Bednar Internships enable undergraduates to participate in an active and collaborative learning experience and to gain experience in their fields of study while earning academic credit. Only rising juniors and seniors in good academic standing are eligible to apply. Good writing skills are required.
