The Center for the Performing Arts and Student Affairs at Penn State seek a collaborative, highly motivated creative and resourceful thinker with experience in engaging students on a large university campus to join the audience development department in the position of Student Engagement Manager. This is a jointly funded position between the Center for the Performing Arts and Student Affairs. Already highly successful in engaging students, the Center for the Performing Arts has set forth expansive goals to increase the scope and depth of student participation in the arts. This position will have as its focus developing and deploying innovative, participatory, educational arts engagement programs for the benefit of Penn State students. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Competitive candidates will have extensive experience with planning and implementing performing arts engagement programs; event planning and execution; sound budget management; knowledge of and passion for a broad range of performing arts; experience advising and/or collaborating with students and student organizations; superior written and oral communication skills; and an exceptional ability to foster relationships with students, artists, student organizations, academic units, and partner organizations. Knowledge of arts education is essential. Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree in an arts field, arts education, arts administration, student affairs administration or higher education. Also preferred is experience in grant writing and reporting; familiarity with artist contracts; superior problem-solving abilities; ability to work in a fast-paced environment that is at once demanding of strategic thinking as well as granular-level detail orientation. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
