The Electrical Engineering Support Department, part of the Undersea Systems Office (USO) at The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL), is looking for multiple Electrical Engineering Support Specialists to support multiple projects within the USO. Responsibilities include: Assist in the layout, fabrication, assembly, documentation, and testing of standard and non-standard electronic equipment; assist in the selection and purchase of materials and components; interact with vendors; install, calibrate, operate, and/or maintain standard and non-standard equipment, experimental hardware, and/or computer systems in the laboratory or in the field; identify system faults, and repair/adjust standard and non-standard equipment as required; assist senior technical/engineering staff in gathering, compiling, and archiving test data in the laboratory or in the field; and work as part of a test project support team in the laboratory or in the field. This job will be filled as a level 1, level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. An Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, graduation from a technical trade college/vocational technical school (electronics), or military experience (electronics) is desired. Experience in CAD PCB layout and schematic capture (Altium) is preferred. Light physical effort is required to assemble and/or operate equipment. Experience in electronics testing and troubleshooting, fabrication, and/or electro-mechanics is required. Computer literacy, general experience in operating electronic test equipment, and the ability to assemble and test electronic circuity is also required. Travel to field sites is necessary. Candidates selected will be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. These are one-year, fixed-term renewable appointments.
