The Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering is seeking a motivated individual to provide administrative support to the Graduate Office in the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering, which includes graduate programs in Additive Manufacturing and Design, Mechanical Engineering, and Nuclear Engineering. Serve as first point of contact for internal and external customers for the new M.S. and M.Eng. in Additive Manufacturing and Design (AMD) program, launching Fall 2017. The AMD program is supported by five departments within the College of Engineering and the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. This position is responsible for assisting graduate students and faculty members with complex issues regarding curriculum/program issues for the AMD Program, which includes both online and resident Master’s degree students. Review and process application packets for applicants to the AMD program, certify graduate records, review transcripts and degree audits, resolve problems, and assure degree requirements are met. Process AMD graduate student assistantship appointments and fixed term II appointments for summer semester. Handle travel requests for graduate students and process travel reimbursements in ERS. Responsible for course scheduling and grade submission for graduate level AMD courses; schedule SRTEs, final exams, and order textbooks for AMD graduate level courses. Develop, maintain, update and facilitate various databases for the purpose of data analysis/reporting. Provide administrative support for the AMD program director in preparing correspondence, handling confidential issues, corresponding with students, and assisting with graduate advising. Schedule meetings with students, visitors and committees. Provide assistance in the planning and execution of events including the New Graduate Student Orientation and Graduate Student Recruiting Event. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional, proactive customer service is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, LionPATH, Data Warehouse, iTwo, and ERS as well as the ability to learn new technologies is required. Knowledge of University Policies and Procedures related to students and FERPA guidelines is preferred. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
