Penn State Extension, Washington County is seeking an Administrative Support Assistant to provide operational and administrative support for all programs out of the Washington County Extension Office. The position of Administrative Assistant may include secretarial duties; maintains and manages multiple data bases; serves as purchasing agent for office supplies and publications. Functions may include; management of office accounts, answering phones, greetings, referring, assisting visitors, clients, staff or others, preparing documents and reports, using office technology, compiling records, scheduling meetings, organizing and maintain information, and providing office support. Duties may be from general to more advanced responsibility. Maintain a professional appearance, represent Penn State University and Washington Cooperative Extension in a professional manner, and exercise sound professional judgment in carrying out duties assigned by the Business Operations Manager, Client Relations Manager and Extension Educators. The Administrative Support Assistant should be able to assume the temporary/occasional role and duties of the other office support staff. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional business/secretarial specialized training beyond high school level or completion of formal high school vocational program preferred. Preferred competencies include: Knowledge of Microsoft office products: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher; proficiency in the use of internet, Google, file formats, documents retrievals, sending and receiving emails; excellent phone skills; excellent grammar and proof reading skills; ability to work independently and the ability to multi-task, ability to prioritize work load in a fast-paced ever-changing environment; resourcefulness. Experience in a team environment with excellent team skills is required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding. This is a 75% full-time equivalency (FTE) job. Will work 30 hours per week. Full Penn State benefits included.
