FALL/SPRING POSITION. The Office of Student Activities is seeking a motivated, responsible student who can work independently on a variety of tasks related to the operation of the Reed Union Building and production of student organization events. This student must possess strong customer service skills. Experience with audio and visual (AV) equipment and event planning is a plus. Evening and weekend hours will be required. Preference will be given to students with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Duties: The normal business hours of the Office of Student Activities are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position would oversee the Reed Union Building outside of regular Student Activities business hours. Maintain building safety and carry out emergency procedures. Perform regular walk-throughs to identify damages and maintenance needs. Reset conference rooms to their original configuration. Record damages, incidents, and emergencies. Monitor room usage. Communicate with janitorial staff regarding cleaning needs. Post room cards. Organize bulletin boards and remove outdated postings. Remove any postings on walls, windows or other unapproved locations. Serve as an information resource for guests. Provide assistance with recognized student organization events. Monitor all club events. AV equipment setup and troubleshooting. Enforce University policies. Manage problems as they arise. Monitor and organize inventory in OSA storage locations, including SGA closet. Support users of the Reed Union Building with excellent customer service. Respond to customer questions and concerns. Maintain a helpful and positive attitude. Communicate clearly in person and on the phone. Cross trained in all RUB Desk Duties. Supervise and assist student staff on duty. Supervise and assist student staff on duty in the Smith Chapel. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Currently enrolled student in good standing with GPA of 2.5 or higher. Ability to conduct self in a manner that is a credit to the department and the campus as a whole. Effective interaction in a culturally and ethnically diverse community. Willingness to learn and enforce university policies. Strong problem-solving skills. Flexible schedule. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Comfortable handling emergency situations. Positive and helpful attitude. CPR certified (we can provide CPR training if needed). Multi-tasking and follow-through. Must be able to perform physical labor such as moving tables, chairs, audio visual equipment and storage room containers approximately 20-50 lbs. with or without accommodation.
