Description

POSITION: Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics. STARTING DATE: FALL 2017 or as negotiated. RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a nine-month, tenure-track position in agricultural/environmental economics and agribusiness management with a 50% research and 50% teaching responsibility. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a nationally and internationally recognized policy-driven research program focused on issues related to the food-energy-water nexus. Pertinent research topics may fit in any one of these areas, but research that investigates linkages across these three areas is preferred. The successful applicant will have a quantitative focus that relies on either secondary micro-level data or primary data from behavioral experiments. He or she will also be expected to secure external funding. Teaching expectations will be four courses per year, including at least two undergraduate courses in agribusiness management. Lastly, the successful candidate is expected to mentor graduate students. QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in applied or general economics, or related field, with experience in research and competing for grants. Applicants should demonstrate excellent quantitative and communication skills and the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams. Postdoctoral experience indicating independence and productivity is preferred. An ability to engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students is required.
