The Department of Health Policy and Administration (HPA), in the College of Health and Human Development (HHD) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a fixed-term faculty appointment as an instructor in the on-line and residential MHA programs. Responsibilities include teaching graduate courses and advising students within a competency framework. Courses may include finance, economics, health care management, human resources, quality improvement, leadership, population health, health care operations, and/or strategy to be delivered online and/or in residence, with emphasis on meeting student competency needs and integrating the student’s experience into course delivery. Other duties may include serving on department or University level committees. The position will work with the HHD Outreach and World Campus resources for any online course design and technical support. This position will report to the Executive Director of the MHA programs and to the department head. The residential program serves early career health care professionals; the online program serves mid-career health care professionals and allows students to continue working without interruption and to obtain their degree while located anywhere worldwide. Additional information about the program and courses can be found at: The position will work collaboratively with department leadership to ensure the highest quality learning experience for students. The individual may help to strengthen external relationships with associations and healthcare providers, as well as with HPA and MHA alumni. Candidates must hold a Doctorate degree in Health Policy and Administration or a related field, and have experience in online teaching and graduate education for working professionals. Candidates must also have extensive practical experience in healthcare management, with the demonstrated ability to translate theory into practice in teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with online and residential teaching experience as well as related work experience in health care, with executive-level experience preferred.
