The College of Agricultural Sciences, Penn State Extension - Dauphin County seeks to hire a part-time School Enrichment Program Assistant. This individual will serve Dauphin County and work directly with the 4-H School Enrichment Extension Educator to provide support in the area of school enrichment. This position will provide classroom programming and curriculum, train teachers, and evaluate the impact of the program with school age children. This position will support the 4-H Programs including but not limited to, summer camps, 4-H County Fair, fund raisers and community events. This position also includes maintaining and expanding an existing volunteer base, building community partnerships, and managing and expanding revenues including grant writing. The employee works in conjunction with the 4-H Youth Development School Enrichment Educator. Minimum Training and Experience: A combination of formal and informal experience and education regarding youth development and/or teaching. Knowledge and/or experience related to Youth Development Programs/4-H programs, animal science, and environmental science. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Computer proficiency. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred in child development, early education/ elementary or secondary science. Experience in curriculum development, training, and program evaluation. Experience in developing educational and promotional materials using a variety of media including print, video, and electronic. Ability and desire to interact with diverse audiences. Interest and ability to work with elementary science concepts. Willingness to handle and work with live organisms (insects, live animals, plants).
