Description

The Communications, Information, and Navigation Office (CINO) at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) is looking for a junior or mid-level software engineer to join our Synthetic Environment Applications Lab. You will assume a technical leadership role and will interact with other ARL staff and sponsors, spending a majority of time working in a classified environment at a PSU/ARL facility located in Reston, Virginia. Responsibilities include: Software and system integration; operation and maintenance; data integration; technical task execution; and reporting. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information, Science and Technology is desired. Experience developing and integrating end user applications on different hardware platforms, including SCI systems, is preferred. Requirements include a background in: Computer graphics; databases; web-based technologies; Java; system integration; and networked systems, both hardware and software. Good communication skills, both oral and written, are critical. Candidate will be subject to a government security investigation. U.S. citizenship is required. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. This is a one-year, fixed-term renewable appointment. www.arl.psu.edu
