Penn State Law invites applications from current Law School students (2L or 3L standing during the 2017/2018 Academic Year) for teaching assistant positions for the LLMLW 900 course, entitled “Introduction to U.S. Legal Systems.” The course is a 7-day course that runs immediately prior to the start of the 2017 Fall semester and is designed to be an intensive orientation to law school for LL.M. students. The course runs from Wednesday, August 2nd, through Thursday, August 10th. Tasks will include assisting Professor Nicole Chong with administering the course, including assisting with taking attendance, collecting homework assignments, and helping to manage classroom time and in-class speakers. The teaching assistants also will teach case briefing and note taking sessions and will help with administering a mock law school exam and provide feedback on the exam. During the course, teaching assistants will need to be on campus and generally will be expected to be available from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Prior to the course, some preparation work will be needed, but the preparation work can be done off-campus, with regular communication over the summer with Professor Chong via e-mail. At least 3 or 4 students are needed to fill these positions. Applicants should upload a resume and cover letter. Applications will be received and reviewed upon submission, and selections likely will be made prior to the end of the 2016/2017 academic year.
