Description

Provides personal, academic, and career counseling to TRiO Student Support Services Program students. Responsibilities include advising undergraduate students about academic programs, degree requirements, University policies and procedures; monitoring progress of students, and maintaining confidentiality of student records. Develops and maintains a contact list of mentors for informational interviewing/job shadowing, and develops and presents career workshops to students. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in counseling or related discipline or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, solid computer skills including proficiency in Access and Excel; the ability to multi-task, and possess a proven track record of working effectively with students in a team environment. Confidentiality and knowledge of FERPA required. Will be working with First Generation and socio-economic disadvantaged college students. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
