Description

A postdoctoral position is available at Penn State to conduct research on root anatomical traits improving root depth, N capture, and water capture in maize. The Fellow will be part of a team researching avenues to increase root depth in maize, including architectural, anatomical, and metabolic traits, and developing novel technologies to phenotype them. The Fellow will employ laser ablation tomography, a novel technology to rapidly image anatomy and cell wall composition in 3D, and will be part of a team to develop new capabilities with this technology, including image analysis tools. The ideal applicant will have initiative, expertise in plant anatomy, microscopy, image analysis, plant physiology, and plant/soil interactions. Excellent communication skills, interdisciplinary collaboration and experience supervising assistants desired. The position is available starting July 2017.
