Marketing Communications Specialist (Graphic and Multimedia Designer)
Penn State’s Multimedia and Print Center is seeking a Communications Specialist to work in its Design and Marketing area to support the diverse communications needs of the unit and and its University clients. The candidate will support the work of our Art Director through assistance with design projects by providing visual design and creative expertise on complex University-wide communications, including print, web, and new media while maintaining the University visual and brand standards. This job will be filled as baseline or intermediate, depending upon the successful candidate’s education and experience. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of graphic design as well as competency in associated fields, such as photography, illustration, typography, content strategy, analytics, and experience with Web-related projects. The candidate must be able to excel in managing multiple projects at one time and working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The candidate will work with Mac OS X, Windows, the Adobe Suite of creative products (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), and Microsoft applications; be competent with printing and prepress processes; and have working-knowledge of best practices for designing and delivering content via the Web and social media. A Portfolio is required. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
