Media Manager (Production Manager)
WPSU Penn State is seeking a Production Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our media production facilities. This position is responsible for media production facilities, equipment and technical personnel. The Production Manager serves as direct supervisor to the Production Coordinator and the studio and field production bargaining unit staff. The position is responsible for the procurement, upkeep, and scheduling of equipment and facilities and serves as the contact point for Telecommunications and Network Services (TNS), Physical Plant (OPP), and outside production resources. It consults with internal and external clients and stakeholders, reviews production methods, plans, and budgets, and coordinates resources for WPSU productions and events. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Qualified candidates must have an understanding of the technical processes involved in media production for television, including camera, lighting, audio and editing as well as knowledge of license and clearance processes as they pertain to production. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication, problem solving, negotiation, budgeting and organizational skills, and thrive on working as part of a diverse, passionate, fast-paced creative team.
