Description

The Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park, PA) is seeking to hire a clinical faculty member in the Management and Organization Department to start in the Fall 2017. Clinical professors in the Smeal College of Business have a primary focus on teaching and enhancing the teaching mission of the school by bringing business knowledge, experiences and perspectives to the classroom and by advancing the goal of student-centeredness. Clinical professors have outstanding professional credentials and typically have a PhD as their terminal degree. Key responsibilities of this open Clinical professor position will include course development and teaching the core management course in our new Smeal College of Business Certificate program. The program provides non-business students with the background and knowledge for careers in corporate and not-for-profit settings, and an integrated approach to management, finance, global operations, product development and promotion, and legal aspects of business. The Business Certificate management course involves teaching large section classes; past experience in teaching large groups is beneficial. While teaching the Business Certificate management course will be the primary focus of this position, the teaching load will be six courses (18 credits) per academic year and will likely involve teaching other management courses beyond the Business Certificate classes per the ongoing needs of the M&O department. Teaching the Business Certificate course in the summer is also a possibility, as is developing and teaching an online version. Candidates with experience in course development and implementation in the on-line space is also of particular interest. Review of applications will begin on November 30, 2016 and will continue until the position has been filled. Please upload the following application materials electronically (pdf or MS-Word files): letter of interest, CV, and a teaching statement which includes evidence of teaching effectiveness and an explanation of teaching philosophy. Please have three recommendation letters sent to Tena Ishler, Administrative Support Coordinator, in the M&O Department at tri3@psu.edu. The Department of Management and Organization offers undergraduate majors in management and in corporate innovation and entrepreneurship, several core and elective courses in the Smeal College’s full-time and executive MBA programs, a PhD program, and operates the Farrell Center for Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Garber Venture Capital Center, and the Center for Teams and Negotiation.
