Engineering Support Specialist (Electrical Engineering Support Specialist)
The Undersea Systems Office at The Applied Research Laboratory is seeking Electrical Engineering Support Specialists. Responsibilities include: Support the supervising technical/engineering staff with the layout, design, fabrication, assembly, and testing of electrical components and systems; configure and calibrate instrumentation, data compilation, and documentation for testing subsystems and systems; operate, maintain, and repair test facilities and equipment supporting test facility operations; assist in the selection and procurement of materials and components; interact with vendors; and operate computers used for data acquisition and control, CAD, and MS Office. Working in an industrial area with large, heavy, noisy, high energy equipment is expected. This job will be filled as a level 1, level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. An Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, graduation from a technical trade school, or military electronics experience is desired. Experience in CAD PCB layout and schematic capture, LabVIEW tools, and Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred. Light physical effort is required to assemble and/or operate equipment. Experience in electronics/electromechanics layout, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting is necessary. You must be computer literate and be able to operate electronic test equipment. Travel to field sites may be required. Candidates selected will be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply.
