Description

The College of IST seeks to fill two or more tutoring positions. We are currently looking for residential and online program tutors for programming courses and also for a senior tutor to help run the residential program. Responsibilities include coaching students as they practice programming skills and build new understandings in basic and intermediate Java courses—IST 140 (formerly 297D), IST 242 (formerly 297J), and IST 240—and also in SQL-based courses (e.g., IST 210); work with individual faculty member as liaison between assigned course and overall tutoring program; staff weekly tutoring hours and/or meet with students by appointment at discretion of assigned faculty (online only); communicate regularly with program coordinator to ensure operations are being conducted appropriately. Undergraduate work in the College of Information Sciences and Technology is required. The candidate must demonstrate coaching/tutoring skills and an ability to program in Java. Knowledge of other programming languages is desired
